Heimat: Ode to Arizona

I lived in Arizona until I was 11 years old and still have a deep appreciation for the harsh environment I got to call home for so long. This photo was taken in Sedona on a hike I do yearly when I go back to visit my aunt and grandma. I think by growing up in a desert it taught me to pay more attention to my surroundings, just because it looks barren and desolate doesn’t mean that life’s not there and just because my family isn’t exactly a traditional one doesn’t discredit it any less (a lesson that took me quite a few years to learn).
